Keynotes National Coconut Conference
The Hon. Deputy Minister Y.B. Dato’ Wira Mohammod Johari Bin Baharum, Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, Government of Malaysia inaugurated the National Coconut Conference in Malaysia under the theme: “Opportunities for a Sunrise Industry” at the Swiss Garden, Damai Laut Resort Hotel Perak, Malaysia on 28-30 July 2009. The Conference also highlighted the latest global and domestic developments in the coconut industry and opportunities available to expand its utilization horizon and aspects of the Malaysian government’s revitalization plan and its implementation.
The APCC also participated in the exhibition which was held back to back with the Conference and displayed several publications, posters, standing banners and brochures to promote coconut products.
The APCC Executive Director Mr. Romulo N. Arancon, Jr. delivered the keynote paper on the Global Trends and New Opportunities for the Coconut Industry. The APCC Assistant Director, Mr. W.K.N. Shanthichandra and Mr. Muhartoyo, Documentalist also attended the conference.
MARDI in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and FAMA with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry (MoA-ABI), Malaysia organized this conference. A total of 198 participants from Australia, Indonesia, Philippines and R & D staff of Malaysian National Universities, government officials and private sector representatives participated in the conference.
